Plain answers about what How to Survive in the Wild collects when you visit, why, and the choices you have. Last updated 19 October 2026.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit howtosurviveinthewild.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is operated by Euclid Squared Inc. In this policy, "we", "our" and "us" mean Euclid Squared Inc., which operates How to Survive in the Wild.

Questions about this policy can go to [email protected].

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Emails you send us. If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message.
  • Newsletter signup. If you sign up for How to Survive in the Wild Weekly, we receive your email address. The form asks for nothing else. See "Our newsletter" below.

The site has no user accounts, and the newsletter signup is its only form. It does not ask for passwords or payment details.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs. When your browser loads a page, the company that hosts the site records standard technical details: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type. These logs are used to deliver the site and keep it secure.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records how the site is used, such as the pages you view. See "Cookies and analytics" below.

3. How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • Deliver the site and keep it secure
  • Reply to emails you send us
  • Understand which pages people read, so we can improve the site
  • Send How to Survive in the Wild Weekly to people who confirmed their signup
  • Meet our legal obligations

4. Data retention

  • Emails you send us are kept for as long as we need them to answer you and to keep a record of the conversation. You can ask us to delete them.
  • Your newsletter address stays on our list until you unsubscribe. After that we keep a record that you unsubscribed, so we do not email you again.
  • Server logs, and any data collected by the other services named in this policy, are kept by those providers under their own retention rules.

5. Data security

The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection.

No way of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If you think something is wrong, write to [email protected].

6. Third-party services

We use the services below to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy, which applies to the information it handles.

  • Hosting. Vercel delivers the site's pages and keeps the server logs described above.
  • Google Fonts. The site's typefaces load from Google's servers, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when it fetches them.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google): visitor analytics, described under "Cookies and analytics".
  • YouTube (Google): our videos, described below.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, Amazon Web Services and Make.com: the newsletter signup and the newsletter itself, described below.
  • Fourthwall: our store, described below.

Our newsletter

If you sign up for How to Survive in the Wild Weekly:

  • The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. To do this, Cloudflare checks information about your browser and device.
  • We send one email to confirm your address. Your address joins the list only after you click the link in that email.
  • We keep your email address, the dates you signed up and confirmed, the page you signed up from, and whether you are still subscribed. The list is kept in a Google Sheet and updated through Make.com.
  • The emails are sent through Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES), which also tells us when an email bounces or is reported as spam. Links in the newsletter carry a tag so our analytics can tell that a visit came from the email.
  • Every email has an unsubscribe link. One click takes you off the list.
  • We never sell your email address or share it for anyone else's marketing.

Our videos

The video pictures on our videos page load from YouTube's servers. The player itself loads only when you press play, and it uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a video plays, YouTube handles that viewing under Google's own privacy policy.

Our store

Our store runs on Fourthwall, and the product pictures on our store page load from Fourthwall. When you buy something, you check out on Fourthwall's site, and Fourthwall handles your payment, your order and its delivery under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details.

Links to other sites

Pages on How to Survive in the Wild link to other websites, such as YouTube and our store. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you leave howtosurviveinthewild.com. We are not responsible for how other sites handle information.

7. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Our own pages do not need cookies to work.

Google Analytics 4 records the pages you view, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location worked out from your IP address. It uses cookies to recognize a returning browser. You can turn it off in your browser with Google's opt-out add-on.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works if you do.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) may give you the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information
  • Object to or restrict how we use it
  • Receive a copy of it in a portable format
  • Withdraw your consent at any time

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. To stop the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link in any email.

9. Children's privacy

How to Survive in the Wild is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

10. International data transfers

We and the services named in this policy may process information in countries other than the one you live in. By using the site, you understand that your information may be handled in those countries.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. The version on this page is always the current one.
